Virginia Price Black, 82, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born April 9, 1934, in Gainesville, Florida, she was the daughter of the late Thomas James Price and Leonna Goin Price. Her parents and a brother, Thomas James Price, Jr., preceded her in death. Virginia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. John Hunter Black, whom she wed June 16, 1956; three sons, John Hunter Black (Hillary) of Atlanta, Georgia, Gordon Price Black (Susan) of Boston, Massachusetts, and Thomas Clayton Black (Maria) of Chestertown, Maryland; and six grandchildren, Matthew, Hunter, Julia, William, Anna, and Nina. An enthusiastic volunteer, Virginia was recognized for her work with the United Way, Girl Scouts, and Habitat for Humanity. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church. Most recently she enjoyed helping with the Community Soup Kitchen. In 1974 she was honored by the Morehead Lions Club as Outstanding Woman of the Year and presented with a Community Service Award. Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Inurnment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Claire Hospice, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351 or Wilderness Road Girl Scout Council, 2277 Executive Drive, Lexington, KY 40505. Visitation: Saturday, October 8, 2016, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Columbarium
