Virgil Herman Stegall, age 84, of Williams Branch, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 17, 2008, at his residence. Born March 4, 1924, at Big Stone, Kentucky, in Elliott County, he was the son of the late Oscar and Cora Wilson Stegall. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Daisy Sloan, Zona Sloan, and Elsa Hall; one brother, Curtis Stegall; and one son, Jeffrey Stegall. His wife, Wilma Kelley Stegall, passed away on March 7, 2006. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Whittington of Dayton, Ohio, Rachel Sanford of Vandalia, Ohio, Shirley Jean Barr of Bellbrook, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Charlene Spencer of Nicholasville, Kentucky; two stepsons, Cameron Fraley of South Range, Wisconsin, and Mitchel Fraley of Paris, Kentucky; one brother, Clayton Stegall of Morehead, Kentucky, and one sister, Grace Slone of Georgetown, Kentucky. Also surviving is a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Virgil, a World War II Army veteran, was awarded the Purple Heart in 1944. He was a tradesman, farmer, carpenter, and mechanic. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kenny Binion officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery will full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Thursday, November 20, 2008, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Friday, November 21, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. Interment: Brown Cemetery
