Obituary

Virgil Eldridge, age 89, of Lexington, Kentucky, formerly of Sharkey, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born August 4, 1919, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Henry and Maggie Markwell Eldridge. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. His wife, Lena Gregory Eldridge, passed away on June 10, 1988. He is survived by four daughters, Shirlene Phillips, Joanie (Terry Barnes) Eldridge, and Janet Eldridge, all of Lexington, Kentucky, and Mona (Jody) Craigo of Greenville, South Carolina; three sons, Bobby (Patty) Eldridge of Morehead, Kentucky, Paul Eldridge of Lexington, Kentucky, and Mark (Mary Jo) Eldridge of Lakeland, Florida; two sisters, Opal Eldridge of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Virginia Henson of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Henry Eldridge, Jr. of Winchester, Kentucky, and Donald Eldridge of Ringos Mill, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and a bus driver for the Rowan County schools for twenty years. He was a faithful member of the Poplar Spring United Baptist Church for 55 years. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Elder Theodore Evans, Elder Chester Adkins, and Elder Lawrence Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Will Redington, Brad Eldridge, Brent Eldridge, Donnie Phillips, Daryl Phillips, and Kevin Phillips. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Saturday, June 20, 2009, after 5 p.m. Funeral: Sunday, June 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. Interment: Eldridge Cemetery
