Virgil Creighton Conn, age 80, of Wescott Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at his residence. He was born January 12, 1933, in Salt Lick, Kentucky, a son of the late Emil and Myrtle Warner Conn. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jerry Conn, Leroy Conn, Cranston Conn, and Emil Conn, Jr. Virgil is survived by his wife, Shasta Wescott Conn, whom he married March 7, 1956; four sons, Gerald Conn and wife Cathy, Mike Conn and wife Lisa, and Pat Conn, all of Morehead, Kentucky; and Rocky Hunt of Salt Lick, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Chris Conn, Jarelle Conn, Jamie Conn, Morgan Burkhart, Taylor Conn, Faith Conn, Aaron Conn, and Ethan Conn; and four great grandchildren, Colton Conn, Jaxx Conn, Izabella Conn, and Maddox Burkhart. Other survivors include one brother, Carlos Conn, and one sister, Madge Davis, both of Salt Lick, Kentucky, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Virgil was a U.S. Army veteran and a lifelong worker in the logging industry. He was a former sawyer for Gene White Lumber and McKenzie Post and Lumber Company and enjoyed traveling and going to flea markets. As a young man, Virgil enjoyed ginsenging, hunting, and talking on his CB radio. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013, at the Midland Church of God with Pastor Bush Stevenson officiating. Burial will follow at Slaty Point Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Pallbearers will be Chris, Jamie, Aaron, and Ethan Conn and Josh Burkhart. Visitation is 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead and after noon on Friday at the Midland Church of God.
