Virgie Johnson Gamble, age 69, of A. Johnson Road, Morehead, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

Born September 25, 1953, in Morehead, she was the daughter of the late Acie Johnson and Pauline Stapleton Johnson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Rhonda and Shawanna Johnson.

She is survived by four children, Joshua Babalmoradi, Vandad Babalmoradi, Kenny Hisle and Cheryl Britton, all of Morehead; one brother, Asa Johnson (Amy) of Morehead; one sister, Lydia Hensley (Kelse) of West Liberty; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

Virgie retired in 2020 as director of nursing at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg. She loved gardening, flowers, butterflies, bird watching, and especially spending time with family.

Her love for her children was beyond any measure.   She will be greatly missed and forever loved and remembered.

Funeral services will be conducted 12 noon Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Mark Caldwell and Pastor Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Caudill Cemetery on Sharkey.

Pallbearers:  Asa Johnson, Michael Stigall, Kelse Hensley, Charles Henderson, Joey Simms, and Aaron Beck.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
