Viola Tackett Shepherd, age 95, of Hope Means Road, Mt. Sterling, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018. Born January 16, 1923, in Floyd County, she was a daughter of the late William Abel and Fannie Osborne Tackett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oka Shepherd; one infant daughter, Mary Lou Shepherd; one son, Kenneth Ray Shepherd; one grandson, Greg Hively; five brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Charles "Ed" Shepherd and J. T. (Betty) Shepherd, all of Means; six daughters, Edna Lee Thomas of Warsaw, Indiana, Louise (Bob) Allen of Danville, Senda Marie (David) Motley, Linda Fay Hively, and Sheila Kay Shepherd, all of Mt. Sterling, Teresa Gay (Bruce) Fyffe of Nicholasville; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great grandchild. Mrs. Shepherd was a homemaker and member of Rocky Branch United Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2018, at the Jeffersonville Assembly of God with Elder C. J. Murray, Elder Bruce Fyffe, and Elder Darrell Back officiating. Burial will follow in the Amburgey-Lovely Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bud Shepherd, David Shepherd, Brian Shepherd, Kenny Shepherd, Anthony Tufano, Micah Tufano, Jason Hively, and Sam House. Honorary Pallbearers: Mike Spencer, Eddie Hatfield, Tim Maness, and Ralph White. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018, at the Jeffersonville Assembly of God, 7220 Main Street, Jeffersonville, KY 40337.
