Viola Mae Jones, age 85, of Farmers, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Select Specialty in Lexington. Born May 25, 1932, in Rowan County, Viola was the daughter of the late Hobert Barbour and Myrtle Franklin Barbour Hardin. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Edward Jones, on November 20, 2001; one daughter, Pamela Fannin; two brothers, Junior Barbour and Kenneth Hardin; two sisters, Kathryn Flannery and Janice Ison; three nephews, Timothy Flannery, Terry Ison, and Robert Ison; and one niece, Kay Ison. Mrs. Jones is survived by one daughter, Lisa Atkins and her husband Michael of Farmers; three grandchildren, Joshua Atkins, David Fannin, and Robi Fannin; four great grandchildren, Trevor Fannin, Austin Fannin, Owen Fannin, and J. T. Fannin; and one sister, Lillian Hardin McBrayer of Layton, Utah. Viola was a seamstress, homemaker, loving mother, and wonderful Christian woman. She was a devoted wife for 52 years. Graveside services and interment will be conducted 3 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2017, at the Purvis Cemetery with Michael Atkins and Kenneth Binion officiating.
