Vernon Taylor Osborne, age 85, of Creekside Drive, Owingsville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 9, 2018, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born November 7, 1932, at Dover, in Mason County, he was the son of the late William Earl and Bessie Madeline Ladenburger Osborne. Vernon is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Glendora "Susie" Evans Osborne, whom he wed April 1, 1967; two sons, Richard Earl Osborne of Titusville, Florida, and William Todd Osborne of Shepherdsville; one grandson, Zachary Taylor Osborne; one granddaughter, Alicia Fultz; and three great granddaughters, Autumn Nicole Dillon, Brooklyn Taylor Baird, and Melody Rae Osborne. Other survivors include one brother, William Earl Osborne of Ripley, Ohio, and one sister, Carol Bradford of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, as well as other relatives, including his church family, and many dear friends. Vernon graduated from Maysville High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950. A proud veteran, he was a U.S. Naval Class of Engineering graduate and served on the U.S.S. H.D. Crow (DE-252). He was honorably discharged in 1954. Vernon retired as maintenance supervisor after working 35 years with Browning Mfg. and Sealmaster. He was passionate about fishing, sailing, camping, cultivating beautiful roses and sharing his home-grown produce with friends and family. A Christian, he was a dedicated member of Slaty Point Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with Pastor Rusty Hedrick and Bro. Steve McKenzie officiating. Dwight Meadows will provide the eulogy and God Sent special music. Full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Jeff Lykins, Wes Mattox, Shannon Little, Brad Hatfield, Frank Goss, Jeremy Hatfield. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Slaty Point Baptist Church, P. O. Box, 863, Morehead, KY 40351.
