Obituary

Vernon Lee Walker, age 69, of Hillsboro, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, at his home surrounded by loving family. Born April 25, 1947, in Lewis County, he was a son of the late Marshall Kenneth and Minnie Mae Litton Walker. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shella A. Hawkins Walker, whom he married December 18, 1967; three sons, Vernon Ray Walker and Earl Lee Walker, both of Hillsboro and Mark Keith (Becky) Walker of Flemingsburg; seven daughters, Brenda Ann Walker, Lisa Lynn Jones, Elizabeth Irene (Scott) Moore, and Cathy Ann (Roy) Calton, all of Hillsboro, Linda Fay Gorman and Peggy Sue Warner, both of Amelia, Ohio, and Tammy Mae (Rex) Reeves of Salmon, Alabama; 18 grandchildren; one brother, Kenneth Ray 'Buck' Walker of Hillsboro; one brother-in-law, Walter (Virginia) Hawkins of Sharpsburg; and many friends. Vernon was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Kentucky Department of Transportation after 30 years of service and of the Church of God faith. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at the Hutton Funeral Home with the Rev. James Hickerson, Rev. Billy Harmon, and Rev. Randy Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers: Joshua Byrd, Brandon Moore, William Earl Humphries, Nelson Humphries, Tim Vise, Wendell Walker, Gerald Saunders, and Stevie Call. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
