Vernon Dale Adkins, age 54, of Maple View Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born April 7, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio, a son of Vernal Adkins of St. Petersburg, Florida, and the late Mary Goodman Adkins. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Adkins in 2012. In addition to his father, Dale is survived by his wife of 38 years, Karen Easterling Adkins; two sons, Brian Adkins of Morehead, Kentucky, and Greg Adkins of Kenton County, Kentucky; two daughters, Felicia Adkins and Haley Adkins, both of Morehead, Kentucky; and five grandchildren, Brien, Leann, and Kevin Hill and Landon and Harper Adkins. Other survivors include two brothers, Christopher Dean Adkins of Morehead, Kentucky, and Richard Adkins of St. Petersburg, Florida; one sister, Patricia Adkins of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dale was the owner of Dale's Tire and Battery in St. Petersburg, Florida, for 25 years. As a young man, he was a professional boxer and always enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. Dale never met a stranger and always helped anyone in need. He will be sadly missed by all. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joshua Layne officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery Pallbearers: Freddy Baldridge, Christopher Easterling, Kenny Easterling, Nathan Lipscomb, C. T. Watkins, and Rodney Easterling.
