Verna Lee Hamm Curtis Johnson, age 87, of Redwood Lane, Morehead, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019, at her residence.

Born March 6, 1932, in Fleming County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Yantis Hamm and Margaret Ellen "Maggie" Fite Hamm.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charlie Curtis; her second husband, Ben Johnson; two brothers, Lloyd Hamm and Willard Hamm; and four sisters, Agatha Jones, Rosetta Stanfield, Betty Jo Hickerson, and Ellen Ruth Muse.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Curtis of Morehead and Elwood Bolar, Jr., of Flemingsburg; one granddaughter, Nicole Starostka; two great granddaughters, Aleasha Wendel and Shyla Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.

Verna was a former housekeeper for several families in Rowan and Fleming counties and a former employee of Jim Bo's Restaurant.  She enjoyed sewing and listening to Christian music.

At her request, no services will be held.
