Venice F. Cox, Sr., age 77, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at his residence. He was born December 16, 1930, in Williamson, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Charles and Stella Pelfrey Cox. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Junior and Faye Cox, Eunice Cox, Virginia Bender, and Stella Lawhorn and his son, Charles Richard Cox. Venice is survived by one sister, Geraldine Stevens of Morehead, Kentucky; two brothers, Ray Cox of Carter County, Kentucky, and Denver Cox of Winchester, Kentucky; children from his former marriage to Norma Kasperbauer: Nancy and Tom Christensen of Pine Hurst, North Carolina; Evelyn and Tom Morris of Grays Lake, Illinois; Dennis Cox of United Arab Emirates; and Venice F. and Lisa Cox, Jr. of Nokesville, Virginia; children from his former marriage to Donna Davis: Theresa Ann Word of Africa and Malana Jobe of Kingsport, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Linda Smith and Jean and Carl Lawhorn. Venice served his country in the U.S. Army for 30 years, including two tours in the Korean War and three tours in the Vietnam War. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Click Cemetery with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be Carl Lawhorn, Sean Morris, Tom Morris, Venice Cox, Tom Christensen, Drew Cox, and Denny Cox. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
