Thurman Carroll Dotson, age 61, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 3, 2012, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born June 20, 1951, at Freeburn, Kentucky, in Pike County, he was a son of the late Gilford Mayhorn and Madie Farley Dotson, as well as his stepfather, Milton Dotson. He was also preceded in death a sister, Pamela Dotson, and a brother, Gary Dotson. He is survived by two brothers, Steve (Susie) Mayhorn and Randy (Connie) Mayhorn, all of Morehead, Kentucky, and special friends, Robert Hall and Rosemary Stipe. Thurman graduated from high school in Bluefield, West Virginia, served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and worked as a carpenter in construction. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Chapel with Rev. Ben Furman, Brother Johnny Hatfield, and Brother Steve Mayhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Legion members will serve as pallbearers. Visitation is from noon until 2 p.m. Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
