Obituary

Thomas Filmore Wilson, age 80, of Spencer Road, Mt. Sterling, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at his residence. Born November 11, 1934, in Owsley County, he was a son of the late Charles Wilson and Martha Herald Wilson Eversole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and seven half-brothers. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth Johnson Wilson; five daughters, Diana (Jerry) Engle and Joy (Chris) Short, of Mt. Sterling, Debbie (Larry) Lee, Donna (Doug) Wells, and Dana Wilson, all of Sharpsburg; one son, Tommy (Karen) Wilson of Mt. Sterling; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Thomas retired as a U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class after 20 years of military service and was awarded both the Silver Star and Bronze Star for actions in the Vietnam War. He retired from Hobart Manufacturing and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Visitation will be 6 pm. - 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Antioch Christian Church, 3800 Bedford Rd., Mt. Sterling, with a funeral service at the church on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at 2 p.m. with Rick Stafford officiating. Burial will follow at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Sharpsburg with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Grandsons Matthew Pitts, Jeremy Wells, Justin Wilson, Josh Wilson, Thomas Wells, and Ben Short will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Antioch Christian Church. Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead is caring for arrangements.
