Thomas Joseph (T.J.) Coomes, age 67, of Wellington, Kentucky, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, after an extended illness.
T.J. was born in Louisville Kentucky, the son of Thomas Lynn Coomes and Dorothy Ann Stivers Coomes. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, John William Coomes.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Diane Wilson Coomes. His father, Tom Coomes (Mary Alice) of Hardinsburg Kentucky. A brother, Paul Coomes (Tammy) of Hodgenville, Kentucky. His sister, Theresa Stinnet of Guston, Kentucky. His two sons, Clark Coomes (Melissa) of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, and Eric Coomes (Marsha) of Flaherty Kentucky. His grandchildren, Noah Coomes, Amber Coomes, Samual Coomes, Audrey Coomes, and Conner Groves. As well as his nieces, nephews and other extended family members. He also leaves behind his special fishing uncle, Ronnie Stivers (Janie) of Paducah, Kentucky.
T.J. retired from Alcan Aluminum in Louisville, Kentucky. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Wildcats play. He loved raising his chickens and playing with his four-legged kids, Andi Mae, Otto, and Carter.
A family gathering will take place at 12:30 on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals. Friends will be welcomed at 1:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. with minister Billy Noble officiating. A brief graveside service will follow at New Alfrey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to St. Claire Hospice, 201 Lyons Avenue, Morehead, KY 40351.
