Thomas Darrell Evans, 69, of Wellington, Kentucky, formerly of Stone, Kentucky, was called home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2013, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born September 12, 1944, at Damrontown, in Pike County, Kentucky, to Charles Franklin and Mary Ann 'Dixie' Kinser Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Clovis (Ivan) Blackburn, Joanne (Alton 'Sonny') Moore, Alma Jean (Bob) Harris, Wilma (Bill) Glover, and Patricia Faye Vincent. Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Patsy Hatfield Evans; two daughters, Mechella Ann (Jerry) Varney of McAndrews, Kentucky, and Tammy Sue Evans Olson of Turkey Creek, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Tia Lenae Olson, Madison Jeri' Varney, Chelsea Ann Varney, Thomas Evans Olson, and John Mason Varney. Other survivors include one sister, Gaye Sue (Jimmie) Hatfield; three special brothers-in-law, Jimmie Hatfield, Johnny (Ginger) Hatfield, and Jackie (Linda) Hatfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Tom was a preacher and teacher of the Word of God, an Elder at the Farmers Christian Church, Farmers, Kentucky, and was retired from South Central Bell Telephone Company. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and loved his God, his family, and his fellow man. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and integrity will continue in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. Visitation in Morehead, Kentucky, will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with a Celebration of Life at 7 p.m. with Minister Bill Teegarden officiating. Visitation in Belfry, Kentucky, will be 6 p.m. and a service at 7 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2013, at Sharondale Church of Christ. A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the Sharondale Church of Christ with Minister Robert Werntz officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Memory Gardens in Huddy, Kentucky. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead and Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry.
