Thomas Edward Earhart, age 66, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Dayton VA Hospital at Lakeside Manor Hospice. He was born February 29, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late James Ellis Earhart II and Anna Theresa Miller Earhart. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, AG-1 Edward Thomas Earhart on September 11, 2001 at the Pentagon, and his wife, Charlotte June Thomas Earhart on March 9, 2014. Mr. Earhart is survived by two daughters, Andrea Stauter of Winchester, Kentucky, and April Horton and husband Aaron of Patterson, California; two grandchildren, Laurel Stauter and Blake Schaffer; siblings, James Ellis Earhart III of Lake Orion, Michigan, and Margaret Cunningham of Westland, Michigan; nieces, Joann Zaffino and husband John Zaffino of Whitmore Lake, Michigan, and Barb Matney and husband Joe Matney of Detroit, Michigan; nephews, Jimmy Earhart and wife Leah of Lake Orion, Michigan and Jason Earhart and wife Karrie of Oakland Township, Michigan; and various great nieces and nephews. Tom graduated from Cody High School in 1966 in Detroit, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1978 and during that time served three tours in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. Tom married Charlotte June Thomas on June 14, 1969. After the U.S. Army, he worked at Ford, TWA Airlines, J. C. Thomas & Sons Electricians, and Tennessee Gas Pipeline. He was a Cub Scout leader for several years, belonged to Morehead American Legion Post No. 126, and was a member of Morehead First Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at noon Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dick VanHuss officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamilton-Thomas Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is Friday, June 20, 2014, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, June 21, 2014, from 11 a.m. to noon at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals.
