Thelma Jean Stevens Skaggs, age 86, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at the Life Care Center in Morehead. She was born August 26, 1931, in Morehead, a daughter of the late Albert and Nellie Pelfrey Stevens. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Skaggs; one son, Ronald Olin "Bub" Skaggs; one daughter, Kathryn Kees; two brothers, Donald Lee Stevens and David A. Stevens, Sr.; and one sister, Rena Stevens Clark. Mrs. Skaggs is survived by her daughter, Theresa Debellefueille and husband Joe; two sisters, Shirley Wells and Marcie Gosper, all of Morehead; 5 grandchildren, Jeanette, Brandy, Heather, Steven, and Michael; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; several nieces and nephews; extended family members; and friends. Mrs. Skaggs was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She loved cooking and baking, especially several varieties of cookies. Everyone looked forward to her special Christmas cookies. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, talking with her sisters and friends on the phone, and watching cooking shows on TV. However, her greatest joy in life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be joyfully remembered and greatly missed. A celebration of life will be conducted 6 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with family and friends officiating. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
