Obituary

Thelma McBrayer Bradley was born in a log cabin on July 28, 1917, to the late Charles Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) McBrayer and passed away July 3, 2016. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, C. Mervil Bradley, 2 sisters, 4 brothers and 1 great-grandchild. She is survived by four daughters, Mary (Archie) Conn, Judy (Ronald) Howard, Linda (Jerry) Partin, Joan (Robert) Bishop; 1 brother, Herbert McBrayer; 9 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Always instructing her children in the faith by word and deed, she was a member of the former Faith Baptist Church of Lexington, Kentucky. Her first job was sales clerk for J. Earl McBrayer Furniture Store where she met her eventual husband. In turn she was owner of a sewing shop, a private upholstery shop and a day care. She always desired to be of service to others. After retirement, she occupied her time by crocheting lap blankets, having donated over 350 blankets to nursing homes in and around Kentucky. Later, she crocheted and donated over 2,500 baby caps to Newborns in Need. But by far, her greatest joy was as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Ritchie Peach Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 8, 2016, at the funeral home with the Rev. Archie Conn officiating and special tributes by Jerry Partin and Ronald Howard. Graveside services and interment will be at 3:30 pm on Friday, July 8, 2016, at McBrayer Cemetery, McBrayer Cemetery Road, in Morehead, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be Jason Anderson, Jason Bishop, Austin Bragg, Kory Bragg, Robert Conn, Ron Howard. Honorary Pallbearer will be Robert Bishop. Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals is assisting with arrangements in Morehead.
