Sylvester Conley, Sr., age 86, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Cave Run Manor in Morehead. He was born March 5, 1922, at Eadston in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Wiley Jefferson Conley and Amanda Alice Williams Conley. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings, William, Russell, Clyde, Mary, Pearl, Betty, and Velda, and his wives, Beatrice Denita Conley and Alice Juanita Hicks-Conley. Mr. Conley is survived by his children, Aeleigh Janet (Conley) Rothwell and husband Kenneth of Stantonville, Tennessee; Sylvester Conley, Jr., and wife Debra of La Center, Washington; Larry Talmadge Conley and wife Karen of Green Valley, Arizona; and Pamela Christine (Conley) McFarland and husband Wayne of Garrison, Kentucky. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mr. Conley was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was a proud Mason for 50 years. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Lloyd Dean officiating. Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 will present the flag. Mr. Conley will be buried in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Titusville, Florida. Visitation for Mr. Conley is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, November 17, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. by Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654.
