Steven Joe 'Steve' Porter, age 41, of Mountain Drive, Olive Hill, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. He was born June 11, 1972, in Rowan County, a son of Raymond Jewel Porter and Garnett Sue Frazier Porter of Olive Hill. In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Raymond Porter and wife Ramona of Olive Hill; one sister, Jill Butler and husband Frankie of Morehead; one stepson, Levi Oppenheimer of Olive Hill; three nieces, Ashley Donovan, Megan Johnson, and Chelsey Porter; one nephew, Matthew Porter; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends who will sadly miss him. In law enforcement for 14 years, Steve was a former police officer with the Olive Hill Police Department, Morehead Police Department, Kentucky State Police, and Morehead State University Police Department. He enjoyed riding horses and taking care of his dogs. Steve cherished Jerry Lee, a special retired KSP K-9 German Shepherd, who died two years ago. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Erik Caudill and Brother John DeHarte officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Drive Cemetery in Carter County. Pallbearers: Josh Ison, Erskin Davis, Jeff Stevens, Thomas 'T' Jones, Rodney Wagoner, John Gilliam.
