Stanley Banks, age 76, of Magnolia Drive, Morehead, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at his home. Born December 29, 1939, at Neal Howard's Creek in Elliott County, he was the son of the late Rollie and Alice Bowling Banks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Marble, and her husband Mike; and a nephew, Christopher Wheeler. Stanley is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Gumm Banks; one son, Paul M. Banks and wife Rhonda of Morehead; and two granddaughters, Rachel S. Banks and Allison F. Banks. Other survivors include a sister: Helen and Ronald Wheeler of Isonville; sisters-in-law: Charlene and Donnie Hylton of Whitesburg, Clara Sue Maggard of Pell City, Alabama, Betty A. and Jackie Sexton of Isom; nieces: Delania and Randy Fields, Denise and Byron Jacobs, Diann and Jim Collins, Venessa and Don Marksberry, and Stephanie Lykins-Hardin; nephews: Brandon Marksberry, Tony Wheeler, Derrick Wheeler, and Steve and Debbie Maggard; and many friends and extended family. Stanley graduated from Elliott County High School and attended Pikeville College. He retired from Kentucky West Virginia Gas Company as production foreman after 39 years of service. Stanley was an avid U.K. basketball fan, enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He was a member of Johnson First Church of God. Funerals services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Johnny Hatfield and Brother Mark Poston officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Tony Wheeler, Tim Adkins, Ronnie Cooley, David Caskey, Jimmy Collins, Steve Maggard, Mike Conn, and South Whitt. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 21903, Lexington, KY 40522 or Johnson First Church of God Youth Group, 590 Cranston Road, Morehead, KY 40351 Visitation: Wednesday, March 2, 2016, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m, Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Funeral: Thursday, March 3, 2016, 11 a.m., Northcutt & Son Home Memorial Chapel Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens
