Soundra Elizabeth Slone Pope, age 62, of Edge Lane, Frenchburg, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born May 21, 1950, in Morehead, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Nema Marie Kidd Slone. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Randy Dale Slone, and his wife Debbie. Soundra is survived by her husband, Wilbert C. Pope, Jr., whom she wed October 18, 1974; three children, Wilbert Clinton Pope III and wife Krissy of Frenchburg, Kentucky, Tammy Ann Pope Willoughby and husband Roy of Winchester, Kentucky, and John Lee Pope and wife Christina of Winchester, Kentucky; and six grandchildren, Brandy, Wilbert IV, Brenna, R. J., Autumn, Austin. Soundra was a nurse for a number of years, a Girl Scout Leader for seven years, and attended Big Woods Community Church in Wellington. She will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Pallbearers: John Lee Pope, Roy Willoughby, Rob Kahne, Wilbert Pope, Rodney Coffey, and Eb Pope. A private graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012, at Brown Cemetery in Morehead.
