Obituary

Shirley J. Withrow Smith, age 77, of Dean Road, Haldeman, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at Baptist Health in Lexington. She was born February 22, 1937, at Haldeman, a daughter of the late Earl and Reba Sparkman Withrow. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Detta Mae Thornsberry; one brother, Jackie Withrow; an infant twin brother and sister, who passed away at birth; and a granddaughter, Kayla Renee Hinton. Shirley is survived by her husband, Lester Smith, whom she married February 23, 1972; two daughters, Veronica Rivers Hinton of Olive Hill and Cindy Rivers of Haldeman; four sons, Jeffery (Annetia Sue Kilgore) Rivers, James (Freida Clark) Rivers, Bob (Cindy Fitzpatrick) Rivers, all of Olive Hill and Michael (Martha Littleton) Smith of Morehead; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Other survivors include four sisters, Wanda Cox, Jean Bailey, Patricia Bowling, and Janet Glover, all of Morehead; two brothers, Earnest Withrow of Avilla, Indiana, and Donnie Withrow of Olive Hill; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Shirley was a former nurse's aide at the Life Care Center of Morehead and retired from Morehead State University in 2003 as a cook. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, January 30, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Bro. Elijah Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ronnie Rivers, Mason Rivers, Phillip Hinton, Troy Banner, Jeffrey Noble, and Tyrone Noble. Visitation is 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015, and anytime Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead. Visitation: Wednesday, January 28, 2015, 6 -9 p.m.; Thursday, January 29, 2015, anytime Funeral: Friday, January 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. Interment: Christian Cemetery
