Obituary

Shirley Ann Whitford Burdeau Greene, age 81, of Owingsville, formerly of Farmers, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, at U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. She was born April 22, 1936, in Ishpeming, Michigan, daughter of the late Jack and Ivy Kent Whitford and Albert and Violet Kent Burdeau. She was also preceded in death by her former husband of 30 years, the father of her children, Charles "Chuck" Greene, on June 19, 2014, and one sister, Nancy Laurila. Shirley is survived by three daughters, Vickie Lowe and husband Jeff of Parker, Colorado, Melanie Bonta of Clearfield, and Lynette Gillespie and husband Jeff of Morehead; four grandchildren, Andrea Lowe, Kendra Armstrong, Courtney Young, and Adam Sizemore; one great grandson, Zachary Shannon Armstrong; two great granddaughters, Khloe Addison Armstrong and Norah Fern Sizemore; two step grandsons, Ryan Gillespie and Owen Gillespie; two step great granddaughters, Sydney Layne Gillespie and Kynlee Rae Gillespie. Other survivors include two brothers, Jack Brailey of Racine, Wisconsin, and James Maki of Negaunee, Michigan; one sister, Sharon Maahs of Vulcan, Michigan; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Shirley was a former sales clerk at True Value and retired from Wal-Mart in Morehead. She had been a Girl Scout Leader and was a former member of Farmers Elementary PTA, Farmers Homemakers, Morehead Rebekah Lodge, and was a current resident council member at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation. She enjoyed reading, square dancing, and socializing with friends. Shirley was a member of Sharkey Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother John Tucker and Brother Jeff Fannin officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jeff Gillespie, Jeff Lowe, Adam Sizemore, Rob Armstrong, Logan Young, and Terry Jessie. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
