Shirley Ann Adkins Owens, age 65, of Halifax Drive, Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 13, 2009, at U.K. Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. Born September 24, 1943, in Carter County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Donald William Adkins, Sr. and Joyce Alene Salyers Adkins. Survivors include one son, Lloyd Lee Owens, Jr., of Morehead, one daughter, Kimberly Ann Owens Hess of Lexington, Kentucky, and three granddaughters, Christina Owens, Alisha Owens, and Holly Ann Sweeney. Also surviving are one sister, Janis Kay Owens of Lexington, Kentucky, and two brothers and their wives, Charles Gary and Mary Sue Reynolds Adkins of Elliottville, Kentucky, and Donald William, Jr. and Peggy Lynn Maschino Adkins of Lexington, Kentucky. Mrs. Owens was a homemaker and part-time school assistant. She was a member of the Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradley Cemetery in Carter County. Pallbearers will be Roger Craig Owens, Kyle Adkins, Donald William Adkins III, Anthony Spencer, Ash Spencer, and Jerry Maschino.
