Sharon Pennington Lewis, 82, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at her home. Born on April 28, 1942, in Morehead, she was the daughter of the late William Curtis "Curt" Pennington and Ferne James Pennington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael C. Dann; brother, Gary Curtis Pennington, and her 18-year-old pet poodle, Mr. Wiggles. Sharon is survived by her daughter, Nikki J. Rushka (Shannon) of Morehead; her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Marshall of Lexington; four grandchildren, Christian Mabry, Joshua Bradley, Johnny Bradley, Cheyanne Dann, and Shay Dann; and one great granddaughter, Maddie Mabry (Cole). She is also survived by her beloved nephew, Chance W. Pennington (Randy) of Salt Lake City, Utah, along with extended family and dear friends. Sharon was a retired ICU nurse who devoted 35 years as a dedicated caregiver working for St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin, Illinois, Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, and St. Claire Regional Medical Center Morehead. Before her nursing career, she taught at Elliottville Elementary School. She earned a master's degree in education and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Elgin Community College in Elgin, Illinois. Sharon was of the Baptist faith and a was former member of Elliottville Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering love for her family, friends, and faith. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351. A celebration of life will be held immediately following at 11 a.m. with her beloved nephew Chance Pennington and Pastor Tim Rhodes officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Claire Hospice, 222, Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351, who provided excellent care for Sharon.
