Obituary

Saundra Kay Lewis Schatz was born to the parents of Henry Clay Lewis and Noisha Brown Lewis on March 1, 1939, in Zanesville, Ohio.  Saundra passed away peacefully on December 16, 2023, in her home in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Saundra was the salutatorian of the Class of 1956 from Hamilton High School.  She received a full scholarship to Northwestern University and Miami University of Oxford, Ohio.

Saundra volunteered and held many jobs in the field of social work.  She worked at the "Bethany House" in Olive Hill, Kentucky, for many years touching a great number of people forever.

Saundra is survived by her brother, John (Barbara) Lewis of Hamilton, Ohio.  Her four loving children:  Beth Enis of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Nick (Diane) Schatz of Morehead, Kentucky, John (Jennifer) Schatz of Greenville, Ohio, David (Betty Jo Wallace) Schatz of Morehead, Kentucky.

Saundra was known as "Meema" to her grandchildren:  Ami (Elton Scott) Enis, Chris (Heather) Enis, Jonathan Schatz, Nathan Schatz, Jordan Schatz, Zachary (Jayce) Schatz, Nicholas Schatz III, Clint Hayes, Madison Schatz, Tessa Schatz, Joseph Schatz, Chis (Kristen) James and Cayce James.

Saundra was survived by a blessing of many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren that she loved dearly.  She was blessed with five generations of family.  Her family also included the many close relationships, honorary sisters and friendships that she held dear to her heart.

Saundra enjoyed her mountain top all the joys and blessings that it brought to her.  Each morning she would awake with the deer and birds outside of her window.  She loved to read and was learning new things each day.  She was the matriarch of her family.  if there was a question, she would give it to you straight whether you liked it or not.  She kept true to her heart.  She was full of faith, if she said she was going to pray for you, it could be counted on.  We are forever grateful that God allowed us to have her as a mother, grandmother, sister and friend for these 84 years.  She loved each of us dearly.

Saundra lived the life God asked of her!  In Saundra's own words, "Be at peace and know my spirit is with you."

In honoring Saundra's requests, no services are planned.
