Sandra 'Sandy' Whittington Johnson, age 49, of CCC Trail, Morehead, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born July 25, 1967, in Montgomery County, she is the daughter of Charles and Martha Lawson Whittington of Owingsville. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Gordon Johnson, whom she married December 21, 2007; one son, Tyler Whittington Day of Morehead; one brother, Rick Whittington of Owingsville; two step sons, Gene Johnson and wife Tosha of Hillsboro and Justin Johnson of Morehead; two step grandchildren, Addyson and Noah Johnson; mother-in-law, Jewell Swartz and husband Ronnie of Morehead; and Tess, her faithful canine companion. Sandy graduated from Bath County High School in 1985. A Morehead State University employee for the past 18 years, she was currently the operations manager at the University Bookstore. She enjoyed taking long walks, spending time with family, and playing with her dog, Tess. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Allan Hutchinson and the Rev. Lowell Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Crix Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bill Redwine, Charlie Gancio, Justin Johnson, Gene Johnson, Tyler Nickell, and Randy Frizzell. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
