Sada Jewell
(Marshall) Ravenscraft
Sep 7, 1929 — Aug 13, 2023
Sada Jewell Ravenscraft, age 93, of North Willow Drive in Morehead, Kentucky, passed away at her home and went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2023.
Born in Fleming County, Kentucky, on September 7, 1929, to the late Arthur T. Marshall and Maggie Caudill Marshall, Sada was the youngest of eight children. She was preceded in death by all her siblings: Ernest Marshall, Gladys Marshall, Johnnie Marshall, Raymond Marshall, Josie Marshall, William Marshall, and Reda Shumate. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Frazer "Bud" Ravenscraft and James Mineer.
Bud and Sada moved to Morehead in 1954 and opened their business, Atkinson Florist, in December of that year. It was the first florist to service the Morehead and surrounding counties and is still family owned today. They were active in supporting the local community, schools, churches, and Morehead State athletics.
She was a life-long member of the Morehead First Church of the Nazarene where she served in many ministries. But her love of music and singing of hymns in the choir was her passion.
Sada is survived by her daughter, Julie Ginter (Bob); two sons, Jerry Ravenscraft, and Allen Ravenscraft (Kim) all of Morehead; six grandchildren, Robert Ginter (Samantha), Lyndsey Lewis (Matthew), Jared Ravenscraft, Morgan Wages (Tyler), Josh Ravenscraft, Mason Ravenscraft (fiancée Riley); seven great grandchildren, Blakely Lewis, Rhett Wages, Houston Ginter, Rhipley Wages, Graham Lewis, Nova, and Jewel; and other extended family and friends.
A special recognition and thank you is extended to Sada's caregiver, Carol Chapman, as well as current and former employees of Atkinson Florist.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, August 18, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rob Ginter and Pastor Daniel Lucas officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jared Ravenscraft, Josh Ravenscraft, Mason Ravenscraft, Tyler Wages, Matthew Lewis, Sam Lands, and Bob Ginter.
Honorary pallbearers: Richard White, Estill Crisp, and Cliff Lewis.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
