Russell Junior Thacker, age 55, of Bull Fork Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born January 8, 1967, in Pikeville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Tom Junior Thacker and Cenia Marie Slone Thacker.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter; one brother, Otis Thacker; and three sisters, Tammy Sue Thacker, Martha Ballew, and Ocie May Hamilton.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie McMillan Thacker, whom he wed March 10, 2018; one son, Clifford Casey Thacker of Morehead; two daughters, Hama Elizabeth Thacker of Morehead and Megan Viola Thacker of Glenville, West Virginia.

Other survivors include four sisters, Donna Thacker, Gustia Thacker, and Lou Ann Scott, all of Pikeville and Cleo Moles of North Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.

Russell was a former coal miner and owned a pressure washing business.  He enjoyed fishing, 4-wheeling, hunting, camping, and spending time with family and friends.  He will be greatly missed and always remembered.

A celebration of life will be held 7 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Mark Caldwell and Jonathan Sawyer officiating.

Visitation for Russell Junior Thacker will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, KY 40351.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
