Russell "Russ" Earl Taylor, Jr., of Bradenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the home of his nephew in Lancaster, Ohio.
Born October 3, 1953, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Russell Earl Taylor, Sr., and Mae Tackett Taylor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dexter Taylor, Jennings Taylor, and L.C. Taylor; and four sisters, Peggy Kolikon, Betty Hall, Alice Joy Lowe, and Mollie Warner.
Russ was a 1971 graduate of Olive Hill High School. He worked for many years as a machinist and plant manager in various manufacturing facilities. Following promotions to the corporate level with O-I Glass, Inc. (formerly Owens-Illinois Glass Company) and Saint-Gobain Industries, he later retired from Tropicana in Bradenton, Florida.
Throughout his career, Russ lived in several different areas before making his home in Florida. He enjoyed the ocean, fishing, and, in his younger years, scuba diving. He was also an avid NASCAR fan. Most of all, he enjoyed traveling through his work, which allowed him to visit many parts of the United States and Europe.
Russ is survived by two sisters, Carrie Ruley (Joe) of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Margaret James (Mike) of Grahn, Kentucky; one brother, Chester Taylor (Sandy) of Columbus, Ohio; one brother-in-law, John Warner of Columbus, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Beulah Taylor of Bradenton, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, classmates, and friends who will sadly mourn his passing.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2026, in the Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Austin Collins, Brother Zack Ruley, Brother Tim Ruley, and Elder Joe Ruley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Carter County.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
