Russell Ernest Dodson, Jr., age 75, of Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at his residences after a long illness. Born April 7, 1935, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, he was the son of the late Russell Ernest Dodson, Sr., and Esther Jane Margaret Gregory Dodson. Mr. Dodson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sally K. Leslie Dodson, whom he married June 23, 1957; one daughter, Kristi Hester and husband Charles of Freeburg, Illinois; two granddaughters, Katie Hester Feazel and husband Dustin and Kellie Hester, all of Belleville, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Barbara White of Morehead, Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. Dodson was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving 12 - years during the Korean Conflict. He retired from General Tire Rubber Company in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, as an electrician. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and gospel music. Visitations will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. E.S.T. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. C.S.T. Sunday, April 18, 2010, at the Newell Funeral Home, 2707 North Street, Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at Newell Funeral Home, 2707 North Street, Mount Vernon, Illinois, with the Rev. Raymond Capps officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Richard White, Mike White, Ray White, Lee White, Jack Templeman, Kenny White, Billy Kirkpatrick, and Bobby Sims. Memorial contributions are suggested to Marlow General Baptist Church, 18890 E. Marlow Road, Opdyke, Illinois 62872. Arrangements are under the direction of Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky.
