Ruby Jean Allen Ramsey, age 85, of North Clayton Lane, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born February 19, 1928, in Stumptown, West Virginia, she was a daughter of Carl Willard and Gladys Richardson Allen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Wilda Mae Humphries. Clyde Ramsey, her husband of 52 years, whom she wed December 7, 1949, passed away on March 11, 2002. Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Molly Ramsey of Hillsboro, Kentucky; her granddaughter, Brenna McDaniel and her husband Joshua of Muses Mill, Kentucky; and her great granddaughter, Alyssa McDaniel. Mrs. Ramsey, a lifelong reading enthusiast and poet, was an honor graduate of Clendenin (West Virginia) High School and the University of Charleston. She also earned a diploma from the Institute of Children's Literature. She became a published poet in high school and since then her poetry has appeared in several publications. Mrs. Ramsey's career spanned more than forty years working in various positions for the State of West Virginia, including the Department of Health and serving as secretary to the State Director of Nursing. After moving to Kentucky, she was involved in local activities and volunteered at Tilden Hogge Elementary School library. Private graveside services will be held on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with Bro. Gerald Saunders officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Avenue, Suite 310, White Plains, NY 10605.
