Roy 'J. R.' Strange, Jr., age 58, of Jeffersonville, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington. He was born May 2, 1957, in Montgomery County, the son of Roy and Geneva Donathan Strange of Jeffersonville. In addition to his parents, J.R. is survived by one son, Jason Edward Martin of Danville; two daughters, Robin Strange of Jeffersonville and Shannon (Greg) McAlpin of Mt. Sterling; two stepdaughters, Lisa Lutes (Franklin Johnson) and Rhonda (Dalton) Fox; his first wife and mother of his children, Jean Hisel; former wife, Pam Strange; and six grandchildren, Makaelyn McAlpin, Jaelyn McAlpin, Jerica Abney, Sean Ellis, Paige Martin and Christopher Martin. J. R. is also survived by two sisters, Pam (Alfred) Martin of Jeffersonville and Patricia (Paul) White of Means; one brother, Gerald (Joyce) Strange of Jeffersonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Strange. J.R. retired from Hinkle Contracting Company after forty years of service. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Christian Assembly of God with Scott Barnes and David Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin & Willoughby Cemetery in Jeffersonville. Pallbearers: Greg McAlpin, Bob Arnett, Bill Arnett, Paul White, Alfred Martin, Ben Martin, and Herman Charles.
