Roy Urvin Boyd, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at U.K. Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, following a vehicle accident. He was born on July 5, 1925, on Old House Creek in Morehead, Kentucky, to the late Jim and Sarah Debord Boyd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister: Ralph Boyd, Raymond Boyd, Dewitt Boyd, and Edna Tabor. His wife of 50 years, Lena Hamm Boyd, passed away May 30, 2010, just days after his passing. Roy is survived by two sisters: Beulah Ball and Virgie Lewis, both of Morehead; four sons: Larry Hamilton (Sara) of Frenchburg, KY, Randy Hamilton (Patty) of Olive Hill, KY, Carter Hamilton (Theresa) of Brookville, OH, Tom Hamilton (Pat) of Englewood, OH; one daughter: Janice McKee (Bob) of Ashland, KY; and one daughter-in-law: Shirley Rossele of Xenia, Ohio, wife of the late Allan Hamilton. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren: David Allan Hamilton, Tami Hubbard, Lannie Gene (Shelia) McKee, Rob (Pam) McKee, Sandra Lena McKee, Wesley Hamilton, Tessa Perkins, Sean Hamilton, Phillip (Tina) McCoy, Shannon (Anna) Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton, Tonya Hamilton, Todd (Lavera) Hamilton, Travis (Jamie) Hamilton, Angie (Jeff) Dotson, David T. Hamilton; 29 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; special extended family: Jack, Jelana, Britton, Austin and Brandon Lewis; many loving church family members and friends Roy served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant in the 259th Quartermaster Depot Company. He served in Burma and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon w/2 Bronze Stars, and Victory Medal World War II. Roy retired from Morehead State University and was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God where he served several years on the Board of Directors. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God with Pastor Gary McQuain, Associate Pastor Cecil Ison and the Reverend Max Molihan officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126. The funeral procession will be led by close family friend Morehead City Policeman Michael Curtis. Pallbearers will be Lannie Gene McKee, Rob McKee, Shannon Hamilton, Brandon Hamilton, Phillip McCoy, Todd Hamilton, Travis Hamilton, David Allan Hamilton, Wesley Hamilton, David T. Hamilton, Christopher Dotson, Britton Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Austin Lewis and Austin Dotson. Granddaughters will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God Building Fund, P. O. Box 31, Clearfield, KY 40313.
