Listen to Obituary

Ronald Virgil "Ronnie" Workman, age 81, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at his granddaughter's home in Morehead.

Born January 14, 1945, in Ashland, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Virgil Workman and Christine Caudill Workman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gus Workman, and one sister, Loretta Crager VanSky.

Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 64 years, Judy Boyd Workman, whom he married on September 1, 1962; two sons, Jeffrey Workman of Morehead and Tony Workman and his wife, Regina, of Hillsboro; two grandchildren, Emily Workman and Kasi Burke; and four great-grandchildren, Grayson, Kennedy, Landry, and Bennett.

He is also survived by three sisters, Charlotte Hall of Morehead and Sandy Planck and Debbie Fultz, both of Lexington, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.

A lifelong resident of Rowan County, Ronnie retired from Emerson Electric after 27 years of dedicated service as a machine operator.

Ronnie was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed fishing, being outdoors with family and friends, and watching his grandchildren play ball.

A faithful member of Johnson First Church of God, Ronnie and Judy worshiped there for many years and seldom missed a service. He faithfully served his church in countless ways, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. For many years, he oversaw maintenance of the church facilities and was actively involved with the church's food pantry ministry. Ronnie was also a longtime member of the Rowan County Wildlife Club.

Ronnie's kind heart, steadfast faith, and willingness to serve others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, his church family, and his many friends.
