Obituary

Ronald J. 'Bo' Hamlin, age 78, of C Workman Road, Clearfield, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. He was born May 2, 1937, in Pike County, a son of the late Curtis and Hattie Mullins Hamlin. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Marie Arthur and Marjorie Judy, and an infant brother, Curtis Hamlin, Jr. Bo's wife, Joan Ann Hubbard Hamlin, whom he married August 30, 1958, passed away June 12, 2012. He is survived by one daughter, Denise Ann Hamlin and her fiancé, Kenneth Webb, both of Lexington; one son, Lonnie Dean Hamlin and wife Kathy of Radcliff; one grandson, James Hamlin; one granddaughter, Heather Welch and husband David; two great granddaughters, Tamara Lynn Hamlin and Emily Welch; two brothers, T. C. Hamlin and wife Lenora of Pikeville and Dr. Larry Hamlin and wife Susie of Morehead; one sister, Geraldine Sowards of Mt. Sterling; and several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and dear friends, especially Chris and Shelby Salyers. Bo proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Saratoga (CV60). A licensed barber for more than 50 years, he graduated from barber school in Ashland and for many years owned and operated Bo's Barber Shop in Morehead. Bo was a Christian and member of Mt. Pisgah Christian Church. He enjoyed church activities and spending time with family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James DeAtley and the Rev. Jared DeAtley officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126, whose members will also serve as pallbearers. Visitation is 5 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
