Roger Dale Amburgey, age 72, of Jeffersonville, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead. Born March 21, 1944, in Mt. Sterling, he was a son of the late William Isaac and Lizzie Montgomery Amburgey. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Amburgey and Robert Clay 'Bob' Amburgey. Roger is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Smith Amburgey, whom he married August 12, 1967; one son, William Omer Dale Amburgey and wife Kristy of Port Orange, Florida; one grandson, Liam Amburgey; one brother, Frank Amburgey of Germantown, Ohio; one sister, Betty Amburgey Montgomery of Mt. Sterling; and several nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and a retired educator from the Montgomery County School System. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Hope First Church of God with Brother Glennis Sizemore, Brother Stanley Hutchinson, and Brother William Prater officiating. Entombment will follow in the Lovely-Amburgey Cemetery. Pallbearers: Danny Montgomery, Daryl Montgomery, Jeff Amburgey, Marc Amburgey, William Amburgey, Allan Smith, and Ryan Smith.
