Robert Milton Tackett, age 85, of Collins Street, Coffeeville, Mississippi, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008, at his residence. He was born November 2, 1922, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Herb and Maude Caudill Tackett. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Clotene Johnson Tackett on May 27, 1986, and one son, Larry Robert Tackett on October 23, 2002. Milton is survived by one son, Joseph Johnson Tackett and his wife Sherry of Shannon, Mississippi; one brother, Bud Tackett of Greenville, Ohio; two sisters, Helen Jessie of Lincoln Park, Michigan, and Lillian Aarand of Sterling Heights, Michigan; seven grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Milton served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a former Rowan County Deputy Sheriff, a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654, and a retired employee of Tennessee Gas in Grenada, Mississippi. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and buying and selling automobiles. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Members of Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 will serve as pallbearers and conduct full military honors at the graveside.
