Robert Ernest 'Bob' Daniels, age 81, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, formerly of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead, Kentucky. Born August 19, 1931, in Paintsville, he was a son of the late Mitchell E. and Pauline Burton Daniels. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of more than 50 years, Burletta Short Daniels on September 2, 2007, and a brother, Paul Vencil Daniels. Bob is survived by his second wife, Rosemary (Collins) Stanley Daniels, whom he wed April 2, 2011; two daughters, Dr. Kimberly Daniels Williams and husband Dion C. of Morehead, Kentucky, and Lisa Jo Daniels (Ena Logan) of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren, Robert Jackson Hosman of Denver, Colorado, Samuel K. Williams of Calgary, Canada, Farrah Williams Ingram of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; and three great granddaughters, Brooklynn Grace Williams, Clara Elizabeth Williams, and Zoe Kathryn Ingram. Additional survivors include Bob-s brothers and sisters and their spouses, Jerry and Dr. Joe Conley of Paintsville, Kentucky, Artha Lou and Paul Music of Springfield, Ohio, Patricia and Larry Sturgill of Sevierville, Tennessee, John and Nancy Daniels of Sevierville, Tennessee, Jim and Sara Daniels of Paintsville, Kentucky, Tom and Vickie Daniels of Paintsville, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Hester (Mrs. William J.) Daniels of Paintsville, Kentucky, and Maude (Mrs. Arville) Short of Meally, Kentucky, as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Other family members include stepchildren, Regina Brown of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, Karen Dehart of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Michael and Stephanie Stanley of Grayson, Kentucky, Jim and Trish Barker of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Wilbur and Lisa Spurlock of Ashland, Kentucky; nine step grandchildren; and two great grandsons. Bob resided in Paintsville most of his life although he served his country in the U. S. Air Force and in 2007 moved to Morehead to be with his daughter and son-in-law. Bob enjoyed a long career as a Reclamation Engineer with Ashland Coal and Arch Coal Inc. and Subsidiaries, retiring in 1996. Always an outdoorsman, Bob greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an expert trap shooter. He was a founding member of the Johnson County Sportsman Club, a former member of Paintsville Masonic Lodge #318, Lions Club, and Family Bank Board of Directors. Bob also served as a deacon in the Church of Christ most of his life. Bob will be remembered for his great sense of humor and practical jokes. He was dearly loved by all. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Short Family Cemetery, Meally, Kentucky, with John Daniels, Minister of the Sevierville Church of Christ, officiating. Military honors will be presented by Paintsville DAV Chapter 36. Brothers and brothers-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
