Richard Gregory Hardin, age 69, of Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the V. A. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born November 24, 1943, in Mansfield, Ohio, a son of the late August B. Hardin and Beulah Gregory. Also preceding him in death was one son, Matthew Hardin; one daughter, Teresa Hardin; and one brother, Tom Hardin. His wife, Bonnie Lucille Johnson Hardin, preceded him in death on March 6, 2011. Richard is survived by one daughter, Rhonda (Tim) Wilson of Ashland, Kentucky; two sons, 1st SGT Chris Hardin stationed in Ft. Benning, Georgia, and wife Dawn of Shalimar, Florida, and Sam Hardin of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and one great grandson. Other survivors include one brother, Sherman Owens of Ashland, Kentucky, one sister, Linn (Rhone) Ferguson of Idaho; two step sons, Anthony Roscoe Buckner of West Liberty, Kentucky, and James Brady Ray Johnson of Brooksville, Kentucky; and one stepdaughter, Lola Carley Buckner of Morehead, Kentucky. Richard served his country during the Vietnam War in the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed camping and boating, and was of the Baptist faith. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery on Jones Ridge with full militaryhonors conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
