Glenna Rebecca Lynn -Becky- Dorton, age 50, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 14, 2011. Born May 15, 1960, in West Union, Ohio, she is the daughter of Delores Yvonne -Dodie- Mullins Dorton of West Union, Ohio, and the late Richard L. Dorton. In addition to her mother, Becky is survived by two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Damron Clark and her husband Jonathan of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Samantha Lynn Damron of Morehead, Kentucky; one son, Randy Douglas (R. D.) Damron, who is serving in the U.S. Army; one brother, Richard Dorton II and his wife Tamia of Tampa, Florida; one nephew, Zachary; two nieces, Hope and Eliza; faithful companion, John Waddell, and numerous other devoted family members and friends. Becky graduated from Cicero High School in Syracuse, NY in 1978. She attended Morehead State University earning a bachelor-s degree in 1982 and a master-s in 1984. As a teacher, she loved her job. She taught at Rowan County Senior High School, Rowan County Middle School, Morehead State University, and Southern State Community College in Fincastle, Ohio. Becky was an avid gardener. She was passionate about music and loved dancing and singing. Becky was a member of the West Union Church of Christ. Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ron Baker officiating. Interment will be in West Union Cemetery, West Union, Ohio. Pallbearers: Richard Dorton II, Zachary Dorton, John Waddell, Jonathan Clark, Doug Conley, and R. D. Damron. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, Morehead, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Morehead State University Foundation, Inc. for the Richard L. Dorton Scholarship Fund, Palmer Development House, Morehead, KY 40351.
