Raymond Anderson Thomas, age 79, of Lower Licking Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at his residence. Born July 15, 1937, at Cogswell, Kentucky, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late David H. and Edith Roberts Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Judith Ann DeHart Thomas; two sons, Wes Thomas and wife Lois of Nicholasville and Christian Allen Thomas and wife Kim of Belleville, Illinois; one daughter, Kelly Ann Council and husband Dan of Belleville, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Raymond is also survived by one brother, Sam Thomas of Darrtown, Ohio; two sisters, Margie Gafford and husband Richard of Sadieville and Berniece Thomas Staggs of Florida; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Raymond served in the U.S. Army and was a former heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local 181. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Rusty Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow in Slaty Point Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion No. 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers.
