Randall Jay "Opey" Skaggs, age 39, of Elliott County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, in Lexington, Kentucky.

Opey was born July 3, 1983, in Morehead, a son of Ronald "Jay" Skaggs and Patricia "Patti" Stagner Skaggs of Morehead.  In addition to his parents, he is survived by one daughter, Jaylynn Skaggs of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Joshua Skaggs of Mansfield, OH, and Christopher Skaggs of Morehead, KY; two sisters, Lori Skaggs of Shiloh, OH, and Tabetha Skaggs of Morehead, KY; maternal grandparents, Tony and Maria Ratcliff of Mansfield, OH; and many nieces and nephews who will sadly miss him.

Opey was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles E. and Jewell Blankenbeckler Skaggs of Elliott County.

Opey was a mechanic and enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and joking with family and friends.  Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2022, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel followed by a celebration of life beginning at 1 p.m. with family presiding.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Northcutt and Son Home for Funerals to assist with funeral expenses.
