Obituary

Ralph Planck, age 83, of Sayre Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008, at the U. K. Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born February 4, 1925, in Carter County, Kentucky, and was the son of the late Allie and Eliza Belle Lovelace Plank. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Estep Planck on June 8, 1989; one grandson, Chris Kissinger; six brothers, Harold Planck, Marvin Planck, Vernon Plank, Wendell Plank, Darriel Plank, and Otha Plank; and two sisters, Georgia Carter and Vesta Plank. Ralph is survived by his wife, Ollie -Ottie- Buckler Day Planck, whom he married May 3, 1991; two children, Clifford (Sandy) Planck of Lexington, Kentucky, and Barbara Kissinger of Morehead; two stepchildren, Ronnie (Sandi) Day and Judy (Lowell, Jr.) Pennington, of Morehead, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 7 step great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by six sisters, Vada Estep and Phyllis Rogers, both of Morehead, Kentucky, Arvetta Dean of Hayes Crossing, Kentucky, Ona Bennett and Joyce Riddle, both of Marion, Indiana, and Shirley Davis of Selma, Indiana; and one brother, Curt Planck of Lenoir City, Tennessee. Ralph was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a lifelong automobile and truck mechanic. He was employed for 17 years at the Lewis Garage and was the former owner of several Morehead businesses, including Planck-s Shell Station on West Main Street, Planck & Kissinger International Harvester Truck Dealership from 1969 - 1971, Eagle Transit Service that provided limousine and taxi service from 1991 - 1996. Ralph enjoyed his family and working around the house and loved to fish. Ralph was well-known and appreciated for his -fish frying- by family and friends and many church and charitable organizations. He was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison, Rev. Gary McQuain, Rev. Jay Harmon and Clifford Planck officiating. Burial will follow in the Estep Cemetery with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Pallbearers: Cliff -Eugene- Planck, Jr., Darren Kissinger, John Crutcher, Brian Lebanion, Josh Day, and Lowell Pennington, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers: Brice Day, Ted Trent, Jacob Lebanion, Gordon Jones, Johnny Fryman, and Cecil Trent. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. Visitation: Tuesday, November 11, 2008, after 3 p.m. Funeral: Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at 1 p.m. Interment: Estep Cemetery
