Porter J. Nickell, also known as "Junior," age 82, of Morehead Road, Wallingford, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023, at his residence.

Born May 21, 1941, in Middletown, Ohio, he was a son of the late Otis and Myrtle Stephens Nickell.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Rondell Nickell and William "Bill" Nickell; three grandchildren, Shawn Michael Brown, and twins Nathaniel and Samuel Brown; two great grandchildren, August Copher and Ivy Hunt; and a son-in-law, David Perry.

Junior is survived by his wife, Marilyn Brown Nickell; three daughters, Greta Nickell (Duane Trent) of Morehead, Cindy Brown (Clarence Goins) of Bracken County, and Mindy Hamm (Tim) of Wallingford; 26 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Other survivors include four brothers, Ernie Nickell of Mays Lick, Paul Nickell and Earl Nickell, both of Morehead, and Murphy Nickell of West Palm Beach, Florida; two sisters, Roberta Clark of Brinegar, and Francis Lineberry of Las Vegas, Nevada; a special nephew, Earl Nickell, Jr.; many nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.

Junior was a former construction worker and enjoyed coon hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers: James Marx, Eric Perry, Christian Cassidy, David Marx, Stephen Marx, and Mikey Ishmael.

Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
