Phyllis Ann Messer Pence, age 86, of Shady Lane, Irvine, formerly of Sharkey Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Baptist Health in Richmond.

She was born December 29, 1938, in Morehead, and was a daughter of the late Everette Messer and Marie Johnson Messer. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hayse Pence; three sons, Rick Pence, Michael Everett Pence, and David Allen Pence; one grandson, Cameron Muse; three brothers, James Messer, Emmitt Messer, and Everett Messer, Jr.; and four sisters, Martha Ina Hamm, Sarah Jane Drake, Mary Jessee, and Virginia Messer McGlone.

She is survived by a son, Mark Pence; a daughter, Lisa Boswell, both of Morehead; two sisters, Sandra Thompson of Delong, Indiana, and Minerva Miley of Breman, Indiana; five grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Phyllis was a homemaker and enjoyed watching soap operas, raising children, and spending time with family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Jared DeAtley officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
