Obituary

Phillip Gene Elkins, age 73, formerly of Owingsville, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at Edgewood Estates in Frenchburg.

Born September 20, 1946, in Logan County, West Virginia, he was the beloved son of his parents, Howard Elkins, who passed away May 30, 1980, and Ethel Pearl Toler Elkins, who passed away February 19, 2010.

Phillip is survived by his very special aunt, Betty Staton Watts and husband Herman of Winchester, who provided family love and support through the years;

one sister, Barbara Ann Perdue of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; two brothers, Richard Lee Elkins and wife Fran of Milton, Florida, and Gregory Allan Elkins and wife Cindy of Milford, Delaware; extended family; and friends.

Phillip was content wherever he was.  Never meeting a stranger, he enjoyed all kinds of people; and during his working days, visiting with co-workers and customers was the highlight of the job.  He was an avid UK basketball fan and rarely missed cheering them on!  Phillip will be lovingly remembered.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lowell C. Rice officiating.  Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery where Phillip will rest next to his mother and father.

Visitation is 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.

in lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Owingsville First Church of God, 320 Slate Avenue, Owingsville, KY 40360.
