Pearl Francis
Adkins Chapman
Apr 5, 1933 — Apr 5, 2016
Pearl Francis (Adkins) Chapman, age 83, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at Arbors at Delaware following a period of declining strength and health. The span of her earthly pilgrimage was exactly 83 years, passing on her birthday. In the days prior to her passing she had expressed to her family members and friends her desire to have her suffering be over and to depart this life and be with the Lord. 'She went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.' She lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. She would have us remember these things: To Know, To Live, To Walk, To Serve, To Trust, and To Rest in Jesus. 'Her family cherishes the memories of her faithful love for all, which was rooted in Jesus 'faithful love for her.' She loved and served the Lord faithfully. She was a born-again Christian, who spent a great deal of her life reading and studying her Bible, and praying for family, friends, neighbors, and for people she didn't even know. She believed The Holy Bible to be the absolute and true Word of God. She had such a great influence on so many people and their lives. Her trust, faithfulness, and daily walk in the Lord Jesus Christ were so evident to everyone around her. Her prayers reached out to so many people during her life here on earth. One of many of her prayers was that all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would all know the Lord as their personal Lord and Savior. One of her greatest joys was being around her family. She loved to read the whole Bible, but her favorite Scriptures were: Psalms 23, Psalms 51, and Psalms 91. On June 27, 1950, she was married to Elwood Chapman. Together, for more than 46 years, they experienced the changing scenes of life in the joyous and fruitful companionship, which the Lord had entrusted to them. Today we rejoice in the knowledge that our Mother has passed the barrier of time as we know it and is forever at home with the Savior she faithfully served for more than 60 years. She touched the lives of so many that had the joy and privilege of knowing her. The Godly wisdom she shared and precious words of encouragement that she would give were always a blessing. She will be so sadly missed by her family and friends but we know she is in a much better place. She was born April 5, 1933, in Rowan County, Kentucky, and was the daughter of the late Hollie and Grace (Thornsberry) Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elwood Chapman; three brothers, James Adkins, Beecher Adkins, and Hollie Adkins, Jr.; four sisters, Cleo Conn, Bessie Adkins, Beulah Cline, and Maxine Adkins; and loving granddaughter, Dawnya Lester. She is survived by three sons, David (Patti) Chapman, of Blacklick, Ohio, Darrell (Diane) Chapman, of Centerburg, Ohio, and Danny Chapman, of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters, Shirley (Wayne) Caudill, of Morehead, Kentucky, and Judy (Larry) Lester of Delaware, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Kimberly (Caudill) Lloyd, Kelly (Lester) Waddell, Bethany (Chapman) Gourley, Kevin Chapman, Lori Chapman, and Joe Chapman; 12 great grandchildren, Collin, Clayton, Matthew, Jacob, Hannah, Paige, Faith, Wren, Cara, Annaliese, Jaren, and Lauren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Our family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Arbors of Delaware where she has been for the last two years; your exceptional care of our mother was truly professional, loving and kind. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Bradley and Brother Austin Carter officiating. Burial will follow in New Sill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Gourley, Joe Chapman, Collin Blevins, Clayton Blevins, Kevin Chapman, and Matthew Chapman.
